2 weeks since last blog - distracted by pay day !!
The college shop had run out of heavy calico and the lighter option was not going to be suitable. Also the calico wasn't going to be wide enough for my circle so I went to Dunelm and I bought 1.5 metres of fabric similar to calico which was 56 inches wide. It cost me nine quid all but a penny. I also bought from the lady in the market some embroidery thread for which she charges a bargain 35 pence - i bought a variety of colours and plenty of cream as this is the colour of my fabric. I also purchased another metre of lace which I had used on my first piece on the circle as I received feedback that as I had only done 3 sides of the rectangle with lace, it looked unfinished so I have now added a final piece.
I completed the embellishing of the heads on Friday 1st June.
Other materials I had to buy during the last 2 weeks include more embroidery thread in cream, more heat transfer paper and pay for spiral binding of a small book. I had run out of money and time to create a book with Blurb as I would have liked.
I have also during the last two weeks realised that all my remaining time would be taken up with completing the one piece of work as there was a lot of detail in it. So this, together with conversations with teaching staff, led me to not proceed with the setting up a room for the exhibition. I was being over ambitious. Also I think there was concern of quality within the room given my lack of experience and timescale.
