Research - Yorkshire Sculpture Park

I visited the Sculpture Park in 2011 and whilst planning my project thought of what I had seen there and a few pieces in particulare are influential.

Magdelana's piece Ten Seated Figure shows what appears to be 10 identical figures whereas infact they are individual.  Relating this to addiction, in my opinion we are all the same.   We suffer the same illness and share many of the same experiences but we are all individual, have similar experiences but not identical.  





Juame Plensa - Alabaster Heads

The momumental size of the heads is very relevant in addiction.   Isolation can be a big part of the illness, and in my own experience it was.   When I did venture out into society to work or stock up on supplies, if I had been shut away for say a weekend, when I came outside my front door, I actually could feel that I was as big as these heads in that I stood out that much and everyone knew what I was and could see into my head and knew how I felt.
